Northeast Area Council Awards and Legislative Appreciation Dinner

July 12, 1999

The Elliott County Extension invited us to join them at the council awards dinner at Yatesville Lake State Park near Louisa, KY.  There were 10 counties attending the dinner.  We have helped out at a few Extension functions during the school year.  The guest speaker was our State Representative Rocky Adkins.  Carole and Delmaine Dickerson received the appreciation award from our Elliott County.   One of the fun things was a raffle with prizes donated by local artists.  Elliott County's prize was a carving of a humming bird done by Leslie Stapleton.  We met Leslie while camping at Grayson Lake before we had property in KY.  Leslie works at the park and lives in Elliott county.  The year we meet Leslie was the year Hillary Clinton commissioned a carved bird from Leslie for the White House Christmas tree.  We didn't win any raffles.  Others who attended the dinner from Elliott County were Gwenda Adkins, Extension agent, Walter Kitchen and Rocky Adkins.  The food was good, the people were entertaining and the pontoon boat ride on the lake was great.
