Leslie Stapelton

Leslie carved birds.  He occasionally made simple items that were consistant with the folk art heritage of this area, but most of his carvings could be classed as fine art.  His carvings were so detailed and realistic that they could be mistaken for the real thing if they were put out in a field or woods.  He was honored by a request to have his work displayed on one of the White House Christmas trees.  Here are a few of his works that I have managed to get pictures of.  I will add more as I can find them.

This owl is one of my favorites and I think it was one of his as well.
