An acre-furrow-slice is considered as the surface soil to a depth of 6 or 7 inches.  It is usually considered to weigh about 2,000,000 lbs. for general purposes, but as indicated above the weight will vary.

The weight of a cubic foot of soil can be found by this formula:

                       

Bulk Density x 62.42 = wt. 1 cu. ft.
