Programs:
There are several programs at the Elliott County Christian
Community Center which are provided in cooperation with other local organizations.
Case Management - All families
who seek assistance work with a trained caseworker to discuss their situation in detail.
We talk about the family's financial situation, emergency circumstances and any
other factors that will help us to determine their eligibility for assistance. All
information is kept confidential.
Homelessness Prevention - We
assist with first month's rent (when a move has occurred because of an emergency) as well
as rent, mortgage or utility payments when there is the threat of eviction or shut-off.
Assistance is generally limited to once per calendar year.
Medical Program - This program
assists with the purchase of medications when an individual is financially unable to do
so. For individuals whose medication conditions require long-term medications, we
offer a Pharmaceutical Program through which individuals can receive medications at
low or no cost through the companies which manufacture them. Each company has its
own guidelines. We offer an Eyeglass Program through which we can assist with the
cost of an eye exam and/or the purchase of eyeglasses. The patient must meet
financial eligibility requirements.
Emergency Food Box - We operate
a food pantry with which we provide emergency food for those who find themselves with
little or no food. Eligible families receive enough nutritionally balanced food for
one week which also includes a voucher for fresh milk and eggs. Assistance is
limited to twice per year.
Disaster Assistance -
We maintain a supply of household items, furniture and clothing for those who lose their
home and possessions to fire or other natural disasters. This program is also
available to those fleeing domestic violence situations.
Clothing Assistance - Families
who entire income is used for basic needs such as shelter and utilities may be eligible
for clothing assistance twice per year.
Thrift Store - Our thrift store
is open to the general public during business hours.
Special Programs - We organize
a Christmas program for low-income or no income families each year. The program
provides gifts for children and senior citizens. The gifts for the program are
provided through Christian Social Services. We also participate in the Redi-Fest
back-to-school program . The program provides clothing, school supplies, hygiene
items, hair-cuts and other needed items to students.
