Argentina

These pictures are from our trip to and return from Antarctica.
Our stops in Santiago, Chile and Ushuaia, Argentina were too brief to get more than a little taste.
We hope to have the chance to return to both countries.

The city of Ushuaia.

That is the Fram, our ship, and a much larger cruise ship behind us.

Here is most of Ushuaia in one picture.
It is the southern most city in the world.

Some other views.

We visited a small museum with artifacts from the area.
The last picture is a smelter that was about 3 feet high.

We took a tour of  the Bahia Lapataia national park.

A beaver dam

Wildlife we saw in the park.
A small eagle, two kinds of wild geese, a floating nest with two cormorants (I think), and a ferret.

Interesting fungus on many of the trees

Mistletoe
It isn't like the kind we have near our home in Kentucky.

The smallest ferns on earth.
Each frond is about one inch long.

Tiny currant flowers

Other flowers and plants we saw there.

Yes, even dandelions.

Lakes, mountains, bays and the Beagle channel

On our way to the next continent.

Most of these pictures were taken by Nancy and Alan but I am indebted to others on the trip for sharing their pictures.
Our thanks to Marie-Jo, Dan, Ruth, Hal, Marilyn, Denny, Laura, Buffy, Stan and Sasha.
