Uluru and Kata Tjuga
The central desert, part of the Northern Territory
Desert oaks (Allocasuarina decaisneana) in abundance.
They have very little in common with the oaks with which I am familiar
(genus Quercus).
They grow very tall and thin until their roots reach water which may be
30 or more feet down.
These were growing near the hotel so were probably being watered and
may not have been native to the area.
