Everest
Sagarmatha in Nepalese
Our visit included the three
cities of India's Golden Triangle Delhi,
Agra,
and Jaipur.
In
Nepal we enjoyed the city of Kathmandu,
the
village of Khokana,
and a flight over Mount
Everest.
and throughout the trip we enjoyed seeing the bright colors of saris the ladies wore.
The pictures on these pages are the
result of the combined efforts of the
photographers who agreed to share their pictures.
Their
contributions are very much appreciated since we each captured our own
unique view of the trip.
My sincere thanks to Don
Fischer,
Dorota Kotowska, Patricia
McCleaf, and Don Sledz.
Early one morning we all set out
for our
adventure on Buddha Air.
With
only eighteen passengers, everyone had a window seat.
A short run and we were
airborne.
As we climbed above the
clouds we had
our first view of the Himalayan
mountains.
In the distance is Tibet.
Every mountain was
impressive.
As we got closer to the
mountains we
could look down and get even more
of an
appreciation for just how rugged they are.
During the flight each
of the
passengers were invited into the cockpit.
There I
got my first sight of Everest.
8848 meters or 29028 feet high
People hike three days
through these
mountains just to get to the base
camp.
Try crossing your eyes while staring at the pair of pictures below.
The two pictures should merge and you will be rewarded with a 3D view.
The frost on the window makes it a little difficult but it is worth
trying.
If you happen to have a
pair of
red-cyan 3D glasses around use them with this picture.
All too soon we had to
turn back
toward Kathmandu.
Reaching the top of this
mountain
looked even more challenging than
climbing Everest.
Our last views as we
dropped into the
clouds.
We could see homes and
fields along
the ridges in the foothills of the
mountains as we descended.
The numbers increased in the valley and nearer the city.
Back to the big city,
Kathmandu.
