Whale Watch

More of our adventures in Iceland: Brewery, Snaefellsjokull, Golden Circle, Aurora, Blue Lagoon

Some notable architecture in Reykjavik as we went to or returned from the boat.
Hallgrímskirkja is a Lutheran parish church and one of the tallest structures in Iceland
It is visible from most of the city.

Hateigskirkja, another striking church we saw.

Perlan is a museum and restaurant that was built on top of hot water storage tanks.
We only saw it as we passed by.
We will have to have dinner there when we go back to Iceland.

Harpa is a concert hall and conference center that is on the harbor in the center of Reykjavik.
We got this excellent view as we returned from the whale watch.

My guess is that this is a small museum of indigenous culture.
If anyone knows what it really is let me know.

Not our boat but it was out there with ours.

A smallish whale skeleton was on display as we were about to board.

We were provided with clothing suitable for the weather.

On our way out to sea.
The city is at the right end of the picture.

A little closer to the headlands.

On deck and on the lookout.

Check the chart.
The tracks of the other boats were displayed and the water depth as well.

Rainbows, we saw rainbows during the whole cruise.

A few sea birds here and there.

Returning.  No whales but the rainbows and some other wildlife tempered our disappointment.
