Moorea
As
we approached the island we were greeted by a brief shower and this
marvelous rainbow.
The layers of clouds
capping the
mountain presaged what we were to find as we came closer and when we
went ashore.
The mountains
surrounding the bays
are each more spectacular than the last. If that is possible.
Ashore found some kids
having fun
swinging out over the water on a rope.
I was able to get in a
brief paddle
probably about 2 miles.
One of the mountains we
saw from the
ship.
This time as seen from
our hike into
the interior of the island.
One of the interesting
trees we saw
not far from this ceremonial platform.
Here the village elders
would sit
leaning against the upright stones and give council.
The rain and high
humidity make for
some real variety in the kinds of fungus you see.
The first cluster is
smaller than a
persons thumbnail.
The second one was about
5 inches
tall and the last about a foot across.
Here are links to places we visited on this tour. Tahiti, Pitcairn, Nuku Hiva, Hiva Oa, Fakarava, and Moorea.
And links photos of the eclipse, eclipse
photography, tikis, the ship, young
dancers,
food, fish,
and flowers
and

on the trip.
