Tiki
While
visiting the South Pacific we saw a remarkable variety of Tikis carved
from stone and wood. Some modern some ancient. They ranged in
height from a couple of feet to seven or eight feet tall.
There
were so many that even we couldn't take pictures of all of them so here
is a sampling. The first two pictures are Tikis in the style
of
those from the island of Rapa Nui (Easter Island) and the last photo
shows one that was carved there and brought to Tahiti as part of a
celebration of Polynesian culture a couple of years ago. The
other Tikis are from islands we visited.
Here are links to places we visited on this tour. Tahiti, Pitcairn, Nuku Hiva, Hiva Oa, Fakarava, and Moorea.
And links photos of the eclipse, eclipse
photography, tikis, the ship, young
dancers,
food, fish,
and flowers
and
trees we saw
on the trip.
