Malaga
The
city and the nearby mountains.
We decided to just walk
around the
city rather than taking a tour.
This sea wall was cut
and fitted
together like wall we had seen in Greece.
A tambourine man in a
park with the
crest of the city behind him.
Further along we saw an
amphitheater
being excavated and restored.
And above it the
Alcazaba fortress.
Alcazaba can be broken into Al the Arabic prefix for the and Cazaba
which could also be written Kasbah.
So this was the second kasbah we visited on this trip.
Inside the fortress was
a maze of
paths, walls and gates.
Enough to delay and
confuse any
attacker.
Another view
of the
amphitheater excavation with a few workers on the site.
A couple of items in the
museum that
occupied several rooms.
Decorations on the wall
of one of the
rooms.
Paths, fountains and
gardens
throughout the fortress.
A view of Malaga's bull
ring from
Alcazaba.
Some of what we saw
around town.
The elaborately carved
door of
a church and the counterweight that once held a bell in one of the
towers.
One of many old
buildings with carved
stone facades.
Our last stop, the beach.
A little cold for
swimming but just a
stroll and playing in the sand was nice.
